Safe, Compassionate Surgical Care for Your Pet

At Hagersville Veterinary Services, we understand that surgery can feel overwhelming for pet owners. Our team is committed to providing safe, attentive, and compassionate surgical care — ensuring your pet’s comfort and well-being every step of the way.

Before Surgery

We recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork prior to every procedure. This testing helps us assess your pet’s overall health and identify any hidden risks before anesthesia. On the morning of surgery, you will meet with the veterinarian who will be performing the procedure. This admission appointment is your opportunity to discuss the surgery, understand the risks involved, and ask any questions you may have.

During Surgery

All patients undergoing general anesthesia are closely monitored using a multi-parameter unit that tracks heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and temperature. In addition, a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is present throughout the entire procedure to ensure smooth anesthesia, adequate pain control, and a safe recovery.

We are proud to offer laser surgery for many procedures (mandatory for certain ones). Compared to traditional scalpel surgery, laser surgery offers several benefits:

  • Less bleeding, as the laser cauterizes while it cuts
  • Reduced pain, as nerve endings are sealed during the procedure
  • Faster healing and recovery times

Types of Surgeries We Offer

Our team is experienced in a wide range of procedures, including:

  • Spay and neuter
  • Surgical biopsy
  • Mass and tumor removal
  • Foreign body removal
  • Exploratory surgery
  • Cystotomy (bladder surgery)
  • Wound repair
  • Dentistry
  • And more

After Surgery

Every patient receives a customized pain management plan to ensure comfort during recovery. At discharge, you will meet with one of our RVTs, who will go over your pet’s unique home care instructions and answer any questions you may have about their recovery process.

At every stage, our focus is on keeping your pet safe, comfortable, and cared for as if they were our own.
